5 Travelling Tips that Changed My Life!
Where are you going to travel to next?
Let’s get excited my friend. We have endured 2-3 long years of wildness, now it’s time to enjoy wilderness! Right?!
As mentioned on @sunbaked_zest we have travelled to the following places:
- Hawaii
- Cook Islands
- Fiji
- Greek Islands
- Dubai
- Bali
- England
- Scotland
- LA
- Las Vegas
- Australia’s east coast, right to the very tip.
What makes travelling easier and has seriously made my experience so much better?
Here are my fave tips:
I met my husband and he was already a passionate traveller. He insisted that travelling would be so much better if I traveled without hardly any possessions. So we set off to Fiji for a month with a school sized backpack and I’ve never looked back. You really can fit so much into a small space.
Here’s what I do. Roll things up. You can fit five great dresses in your small travel bag, a couple of t-shirts, a pair of classic shorts, two bikinis and a groovy sarong that doubles as a towel and I always wear my jacket/blazer on the plane…it is usually cold on there anyway.
But what if you’re travelling to a cold climate you say?
We travelled to England and I also only took a ‘carry on’. I rolled up four winter dresses, four warm bodysuits and two sets of pants, one long 3/4 vest and two scarves. I wore my warm boots and ¾ jacket on the plane again to save space. I had so many outfits for the month-long trip by mixing and matching, oh and adding accessories.
Don’t lug your big bottles of shampoo, conditioner, cosmetics, hair spray and perfume with you. Put them in small bottles and take mini sizes of everything. You can fit so much in one small vanity bag. You really will feel unburdened with less luggage and it takes a load off your mind when you don’t have to constantly keep watch over all your stuff.
Use a sarong to double as a towel or take a Tesalate towel that is super lightweight and easy to roll up. Towels can have a thousand uses when you are away. You can literally sit anywhere on it.
Getting off the plane with your carry on and not having to wrestle bags off the luggage carousel is a god send. You are all good to go. Your adventure begins now.
This makes a huge difference if you want to get to know the place and have an authentic experience. Your first port of call is to stay at a place run by a person who actually lives in the community. We did this at the Greek Islands and then all of our travel was governed by recommendations from the people with genuine knowledge and it was AMAZE BALLS.
The locals know the shizzle.
Before we travel we get a card that doesn’t charge a foreign transaction fee or ATM fee.
You can then spend all those extra fees on trying the good wine of the country. Perfect!
When we travel we always learn these important phrases in the local language. It really endears you to the people and they so appreciate it. Learning just a few phrases creates connection and that beautiful energy always leads to future exchanges of advice and information. I have found that most people are genuinely good people and want to help you.
So her's to travel, happiness and good health in 2022 as we get our adventure back on.
Go placidly amidst the haste, my darlings!
This life is for living!
